Before you
can begin adding coursework, you must first set up a
class.
1. On the fourostudent.net home page, click Add New
Class, located on the Current Classes bar. The Add New
Class page appears.
2. In the Class Details section, enter the class information
including Class Name, Hours, Begin and End Times, and
Class Days. Note that Class Name is a required field.
3. In the Grading Policy section, enter the class grading
policy, if necessary.
4. (optional) In the Textbooks section, enter the class
textbooks.
5. Review and edit the Coursework Types, including number
of drops allowed for each coursework option.
6. (optional) Enter the Instructor information.
7. Click Save to return to the fourostudent.net home
page, or click Save and Add Another to add class information
for your next class. |

Actions section of the Current Classes list. The Modify
Class page appears.
2. Edit class detail information where necessary.
3. When finished editing class details, click Save Changes.

Before you
can begin creating coursework items, you must create
a new class. See "Creating a Class in fourostudent.net"
for more information.
1. On the fourostudent.net home page, click Coursework
in the Actions section of the Current Classes list.
The View Coursework page appears.
2. At the top of the page, click Add New Coursework.
The Add New Coursework page appears.
3. Enter the Coursework Name and coursework Due Date.
These are required fields.
4. Click a coursework type on the Type drop-down list.
5. (optional) Click a textbook name on the Textbook
drop-down list.
6. (optional) If coursework has already been completed,
click to check the Completed check box, and add the
score in the Score section of the page.
7. (optional) To export this coursework item to either
your built in Palm OS device Date Book or To Do list,
click to check either Export to Date Book or Export
to To Do checkboxes.
8. To finish entering coursework items, click Save and
Return.
9. To finish this coursework item, then add another
coursework item, click Save and Add Another. |

Archiving a class in fourostudent.net removes the
class from 4.0Student on the Palm OS device and allows
read-only access to the class information in the fourostudent.net
service. It is suggested that you archive all classes
from previous terms to improve the performance of
4.0Student on the Palm OS device.
To archive an existing class:
1. Click the More.. action link for the class you
want to archive.
2. Click the Archive button on the "Class Actions"
page.
3. Enter the term name and modify the class grade
and GPA as necessary.
4. Click Save Changes so save the archived class
The archived class will be displayed in the "All
Classes" section on the home page. When you HotSync
the class will be removed from the Palm OS device.
At any time you can choose to unarchive the class
and place it back on the Palm OS device.

Any class that has been previously archived can be
unarchived. This allows you to placed the class back
on the Palm OS device or edit the class/coursework
information. To unarchive a class:
1. Select the More.. action link for the class you
want to archive.
2. Click the Unarchive button on the Class Actions
page.
The class will be displayed in Current Classes section
as well as the All Classes section as a Current term.
When you HotSync the class will be added to the Palm
OS device.

You may want create archived classes from scratch
to track classes previous to those currently in your
4.0Student on your Palm OS device. Creating an archived
class from scratch will not be transferred to the
4.0Student on your Palm OS device but it will be included
in the overall GPA in fourostudent.net.
To create a new archived class:
1. Click the Add New Archived Class link on the home
page.
2. Enter the class and grade information.
3. Click Save Changes to save the new archive class
and return to the home page.

Deleting a class will completely remove a class from
your Palm OS device and your fourostudent.net account.
This action is not reversible and you will not be
able to recover a deleted class. If you would like
to simply remove the class from the Palm OS device
then we suggest you use the Archive
Class function.
To delete a :
1. From the home page, click the More.. action link
for the class you would like to delete.
2. Click the Delete button.
3. Confirm the deletion by clicking Yes, Delete this
Class.

You can activate the Public View of your fourostudent.net
home page so friends and family can view your class
progress and schedule. When activated you will be
given a personal URL which you can email to anyone
you would like to view your fourostudent.net informatioin.
The public page is not password protected and none
of the information is editable. Only users to which
you supply the URL will have access to your public
view.
To activate your Public View:
1. Click the Edit link in the Student Information
section on the fourostudent.net home page.
2. Change the Public View Status to Active.
3. Click Save Changes to save the Student Information
4. You'll be given your public URL which you can copy
and paste in an email.
5. Click Done to return to the fourostudent.net home
page.
You can deactive your public view at any time. Note
- while you are logged into the fourostudent.net system
the public view URL always appears to be active. Therefore
you can see the public view without activating it.
To ensure the URL is inactive you should close all
browser windows, restart your browser and test the
URL.

To print your class and coursework:
1. Click the More.. link in the for the class you
would like to print.
2. Click the Print button and to open a new browser
window with the class information optimized for printing.
3. Select "Print" from your "File"
menu on your browser window.
4. Close the browser window and press the Done button
on the Class Actions page.

Synchronizing with Your Palm OS Device top To sync
yourfourostudent.net information with your Palm OS
device, simply log out of fourostudent.net, then run
the Hotysync application. You can set up Hotysync
preferences from the Palm OS version of 4.0Student.net
To set your Student and Hotsync preferences in 4.0Student:
1. On your Palm OS device, launch 4.0Student.net.
2. Tap Student Info on the Options Menu. The Student
Info screen appears.
3. Enter your name on the Name line.
4. Tap to check Stand-Alone Only if you don't plan
to use or visit fourostudent.net.
5. Tap to check Sync Error if Internet not found to
display a Hotysync error message if you don't have
an Internet connection established.
6. The URL is the address you were given when you
first registered as a fourostudent.net user. This
cannot change or you will not be able to sync your
Palm OS device with fourostudent.net.
7. The Login ID is your email address and must match
what you registered on fourostudent.net.
8. The password must match the password used to log
into fourostudent.net.
9. Tap to select whether you want the Palm OS device
to overwrite information entered in fourostudent.net
in the instance that both records have been changed
since the last Hotsync operation, or if the fourostudent.net
information overwrites information on the Palm OS
device.
10. Tap to OK.
If all these items check out and you are still unable
to sync with the fourostudent.net application then
contact support.

To log into fourostudent.net simply enter your email
address in the Login ID text box, then enter your
password in the Password text box. If you would like
to bypass the login screen next time then select the
"Remember my login ID and password" checkbox.
Note - do not use this function on community-use
computers as other users will be able to access your
fourostudent.net information. Click Login and
your fourostudent.net home page appears.
If you forgot your password, click the Forgot Your
Password link, enter your email address, and it will
be emailed to you.

The fourostudent.net home page allows you to view
your personal student information, fourostudent.net
News, your class schedule, and coursework load at
a glance.
To edit your Student Information
1. Click the Edit link in the Student Information
section and the Modify Student Information page appears.
2. Modify your student information where necessary,
then click Save Changes to return to the fourostudent.net
home page.
Creating a Class in fourostudent.net
Before you can begin adding coursework, you must first

5. Review and edit the Coursework Types, including

page, or click Save and Add Another to add class information
for your next class.
Modifying Institution GPA
1. On the fourostudent.net home page, click Modify
Institution GPA located at the bottom-right of the
Current Class section. The Modify Institution GPA
page appears.
2. Enter the values for each letter grade.
3. Click either E or F on the Fail drop-down list
box.
4. Click Save Changes.
Viewing Coursework Due
fourostudent.net allows you to view coursework by
due date. Simply click the appropriate link and the
coursework is displayed and sorted based on when it
is due. You can sort and display coursework four different
ways:
- Due by Week
- Due by Month
- Due Next Week
- Due Next Month
Modifying Class Details
1. On the fourostudent.net home page, click Class
Details in the Actions section of the Current Classes
list. The Modify Class page appears.
2. Edit class detail information where necessary.
3. To delete the class entirely, click Delete Class.
4. When finished editing class details, click Save
Changes.
Creating Coursework Items
Before you can begin creating coursework items, you
must create a new class. See "Creating a Class in
Fourostudent.net" for more information.
1. On the fourostudent.net home page, click Coursework
in the Actions section of the Current Classes list.
The View Coursework page appears.
2. At the top of the page, click Add New Coursework.
The Add New Coursework page appears.

4. Click a coursework type on the Type drop-down list.
5. (optional) Click a textbook name on the Textbook

Modifying a Coursework Item
1. On the fourostudent.net home page, click Coursework
in the Actions section of the Current Classes list.
The View Coursework page appears.
2. Under the Action column to the far right, click

3. To delete the coursework item, click Delete Coursework
at the bottom of the page.
4. Select and edit the details you want to change,
or add a score to complete the item.

your built in Palm OS device Date Book or To Do list,

This page allows you to change some of your student
information. It's important that you not change your
Login ID or password without doing the same on your
Palm OS device. Otherwise, the two will not sync properly.
Synchronizing with your Palm OS Device
To sync your fourostudent.net information with
your Palm OS device, simply log out of fourostudent.net,

3. When finished editing class details, click Save

There are two Archived Class Details pages, one for
a newly archived class (created with the Add Archive
Class link), and one for classes that were current
classes and changed to an archive status.
Newly Created Archive Class - Archived Class Details
1. On the Archive Class Details page, Edit class
detail information where necessary.
2. When finished editing the archived class details,
click Save Changes.
Previously Current but Recently Archived Class
- Archived Class Details
1. On the Archive Class Details page, Edit class
detail information where necessary.
2. To unarchive the class, click Unarchive Class.
3. When finished editing the archived class details,
click Save Changes.

The View Coursework page displays each coursework
item for a specific class. Add new coursework easily
- just click the Add New Coursework link and the Add
New Coursework page appears. You can update coursework
at any time by clicking the Details link on each coursework
line.

on a class such as delete, archive, unacrhive and print.
Only the actions valid for the selected class will be
displated. To perform an action on the class, simply
click one of the action buttons. |

To synchronize
with your Palm OS device make sure that:
1. You are using 4.0Student v5.0 or newer for the PalmOS
2. You have the fourostudent.net conduit installed on
your Windows 95/98/NT/ME/2000 machine
3. You have the correct Login ID (your email address),
and password set in the "Student Info" form
in the 4.0Student Palm OS software.
4. You have the "Standalone" checkbox unselected
in the "Student Info" form in the 4.0Student
Palm OS software.
If all these items check out and you are still unable
to sync with fourostudent.net then contact
support. |

| While you
